“Roxanne Conlin’s career has been dedicated to pursuing justice for her clients, whether they were on the local, state, or federal level,” said Mary C. McQueen, NCSC president. “Her passion for the rule of law and commitment to the welfare of others will make her a valuable member of the National Center’s governing body.”
A former U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Iowa from 1977-81, Conlin has practiced with Roxanne Conlin & Associates P.C. since 1991. She was the assistant attorney general for Iowa from 1969-76, and taught at the University of Iowa College of Law in the late ‘70s. Conlin also ran for governor of Iowa in 1982.
She is currently a member of the Litigation Counsel of America and the American Law Institute, and is a trustee of the American Jury Trial Foundation. In 1992, Conlin became the first female president of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, an organization that awarded her the Leonard M. Ring Champion of Justice Award in 2006. She also has served on the boards of many local, state, and national organizations, and was a member of NCSC’s Lawyers Committee from 2003-06.
Conlin received her bachelor’s from Drake University in Des Moines at the age of 16, and her juris doctorate from Drake University Law School at the age of 21. She also holds a master’s in public administration from Drake University.
