Ohio Court Official Appointed to Leadership Positions in
Two National Court Organizations

Williamsburg, VA (Aug. 13, 2009) – Steven C. Hollon, administrative director of the Supreme Court of Ohio, has been named vice-chair of the National Center for State Courts (NCSC) Board of Directors and president of the Conference of State Court Administrators (COSCA), a national organization that represents the top chief executives of the courts of the 50 states and U.S. territories, and of which the NCSC serves as executive staff. He will serve in both positions for one year. The appointments were made recently during the NCSC’s board meeting and COSCA’s annual conference.

“Steve Hollon brings a unique and valuable perspective to the work of the National Center and COSCA,” said Mary C. McQueen, NCSC president. “He knows the scope and importance of the work that is done every day in America’s state courts, and that knowledge can only strengthen our organizations.”

Hollon has served as the chief operating officer of the Ohio Supreme Court since 1999. As administrative director, he oversees the daily operations of the court’s eight divisions as well as its $130 million annual budget. Prior to his tenure with the Ohio Supreme Court, Hollon was the administrator and staff counsel of Ohio’s Second Appellate District Court of Appeals from 1995-99 and of the state’s Twelfth Appellate District Court of Appeals from 1983-90. He also was a partner in the Hamilton, Ohio, firm of Parrish, Fryman & Marcum Co. LPA from 1990-95.

Hollon currently serves as chair of the Ohio United Way’s Board of Directors, and has previously served on the boards of the Cincinnati United Way, Middletown United Way, Lebanon Countryside YMCA, and Miami University Alumni Association. He received his bachelor’s from Muskingum College in New Concord, Ohio, a master’s from Miami University, and his juris doctorate from Ohio Northern University.

The Conference of State Court Administrators is comprised of the chief executive officers of the court systems in each state, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. territories. The conference is committed to strengthening the judicial branch by improving the quality of state courts and increasing the public’s trust and confidence in the justice system.

The National Center for State Courts, headquartered in Williamsburg, Va., is a nonprofit court reform organization dedicated to improving the administration of justice by providing leadership and service to the state courts. The National Center, founded in 1971 by the Conference of Chief Justices and Chief Justice of the United States Warren E. Burger, provides education, training, and technology, management, and research services to the nation's state courts.
