Course
Overview:
This new, week-long advanced course is intended for court executives who want to improve their leadership skills. The course is based on a curriculum developed by Ron Heifitz and Marty Linsky of the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, and on their book, Leadership on the Line. The lead faculty member for the course is a Principal of their firm, Cambridge Leadership Associates supporting faculty are experienced court executives from across the country who have received instruction on the concepts and techniques developed by Heifitz and Linsky.
As a result of participating in this program, participants will be able to:
- Build their capacity to lead change when faced with “adaptive challenges”
- Learn how to use formal and informal authority to provide leadership
- Identify factors such as loyalty, habits, and values that cause people to resist changes that could improve court operations
- Practice dealing with the value conflicts, personal and system dynamics, and turmoil that are inevitable in achieving meaningful change
- Work on real workplace dilemmas with fellow court executives
ICM Fellows are especially encouraged to enroll. While completion of the Court Executive Development Program is not a prerequisite, this course will challenge even the most experienced court executive.
