BRANCH CHIEF, DOMESTIC RELATIONS: District of Columbia Courts, Family Court Operations Division. 500 Indiana Ave, NW, Washington, D.C. Summary: The Domestic Relations Branch is responsible for the adjudication of cases involving divorce, custody, adoption, standby guardianship, termination of parental rights, relinquishment of parental rights, visitation, marriage applications and the accurate and secure maintenance of records resulting from these activities. Duties: Incumbent is responsible for the management of staff and operations in the Adoption, Calendaring and Marriage Section of the Branch. Ensures that all filings and branch procedures comply with requirements of all relevant statutes, regulations, rules and business practices. The incumbent plans, develops, administers and evaluates programs and special projects designed to accomplish the Branch functions, submits recommendations and procedures to improve the Branch’s overall operation, instructs staff members on procedures, administers court policies, identifies and addresses the training and development needs of the employees and performs performance evaluations. FAMILY DIVISION MASTER: Second Judicial District Court. Washoe County, NV. Summary: Under judicial direction, presides over domestic, juvenile, and child support hearings rendering oral and written recommendations; process applications for protective orders, contempts, modifications, and requests for hearings; decide motions and to serve as liaison with a variety of community organizations. Duties: Preside over hearings and assume case management responsibilities over cases involving juvenile delinquency, dependency (abuse/neglect), child support enforcement, paternity, domestic violence protection orders, out-of-state custody orders, and other family issues as assigned by Family Division Judges. Process applications for emergency protection orders including interviewing applicants and preparing orders. Process domestic violence-related motions including contempts, modifications, and requests for hearing. Serve as liaison with other community agencies, including law enforcement, prosecutors, municipal and justice courts with the goal of working toward a consistent, community-wide response to family law issues. SITE LIAISON: Model Court, Permanency Planning for Children Department, Child Victims Act Model Courts. Reno, NV. Summary: The focus of this position is to serve as a Model Court Liaison to the national Child Victims Act Model Courts and to support the development of other potential Model Court jurisdictions. This Model Court Liaison will be required to build a knowledge base around the dependency OJJDP-funded Model Courts Project which focuses on improving court practice in child abuse and neglect cases; implement the principles of collaboration among court, agencies, and community; and have experience and knowledge in the juvenile justice and dependency systems. Duties: The Model Court Liaison will be responsible for guiding program activities and meeting grant deliverables under the direct supervision of the Manager of the Model Courts Division. Responsibilities will include: meeting planning and implementation; report writing; regular and ongoing communication with assigned Child Victims Act Model Courts, including Lead Judges and Model Court team members; provision of assistance to assigned Model Courts, including site visits, trainings, response to various technical assistance requests, and work with other NCJFCJ departments to coordinate project efforts and technical assistance. The Model Court Liaison will work as a part of the broader Model Court team, as well as perform collaborative planning and decision-making with other PPCD staff and projects. Qualifications: A four-year degree from an accredited institution of higher learning, with a major or minor in one of the following disciplines: juvenile justice, criminal justice, criminiology, law, sociology, public policy, or a related field. A graduate degree is preferred. Four years relevant work experience is required. Computer literacy is a must. Excellent communication skills, follow-through, diplomacy, and the ability to create and maintain efficient working relationships with co-workers, judges, child welfare professionals, community stakeholders, and allied professionals are a must. ADVOCATE CASE MONITOR: Family Court Operations, D.C. Courts. Summary: Incumbent is responsible for assisting the Mental Retardation Volunteer Advocate Coordinator in administrative functions related to volunteer advocates and the daily operations of the D.C. Mental Retardation Volunteer Advocates Program. Duties: Monitors volunteer advocates appointed by the Court for developmentally disabled respondents and their overall case activity. Acts as a liaison between the Volunteer Advocates and the Volunteer Advocate Coordinator of the Mental Health/Mental Retardation Branch and makes recommendations and referrals. Incumbent assists the Volunteer Advocate Coordinator with networking and/or communicating with appropriate agencies, groups, media, or interested individuals to ensure adequate recruitment goals are met. Assists in the training for all assigned volunteer advocates and is responsible for collecting, copying, collating and distributing training material. Summary: The Bergen Vicinage is seeking a highly motivated individual with excellent leadership and communication skills to oversee all family court operations under the general direction of the Court Executive 2B (Family Division Manager). Summary: Incumbent serves as assistant to the Director and is responsible for providing administrative, secretarial and clerical support to the Director. DEPUTY DIRECTOR: Family Court Social Services, District of Columbia Courts. Summary: Incumbent assists the Director in carrying out the day-to-day responsibilities of the Division, as well as the operation of several branches within the Division and shares with the Director the confidentiality of all office matters. Supervises designated Program Managers and interacts with the judiciary, other court system staff and juvenile justice stakeholders essential to maintaining cooperative relationships supporting public safety. Must have a thorough knowledge of Title 16, Chapter 23 of the D.C. Municipal Code and Rules of Procedure, as well as Federal Laws specific to juvenile proceedings. FAMILY LAW EXAMINER: Superior Court of California, Marin County. Summary: The Family Law Examiner provides technical, procedural and legal review to ensure that matters before the family law court have proper notice and complete documents for a court ruling. This class is distinguished from the Family Law Facilitator in that the latter is a practicing attorney who works directly with family law litigants in compliance with AB 1058. This class is distinguished from that of the Probate Examiner in that the latter requires specialized knowledge regarding probate law and procedures. It is distinguished from that of the Legal Research Attorney in that the latter conducts significant legal research and requires a Juris Doctor degree. This class receives functional direction from the Family Law Judge and reports to the Supervising Research Attorney. Duties: Reviews all law and motion cases prior to hearing; reviews proposed judgments to ensure that documentation is procedurally correct and in compliance with appropriate laws, statutes and local rules; notes deficiencies, including incomplete, unclear and missing documents; contacts attorneys and others as necessary to correct defects. Conducts appropriate legal research; completes written documentation summarizing legal factors and any issues for each matter before the court, and meets with Family Law judicial officers to discuss prior to scheduled hearing; may prepare draft of tentative ruling. Reviews the calendar with the judge handling family law issues; provides information, discusses issues and makes recommendations regarding complex, contested or otherwise difficult cases. Contacts attorneys to resolve problems and issues, to inform them of calendar status and to answer questions regarding calendared matters. Analyzes financial documents; operates computerized child and/or spousal support programs to determine appropriate levels of financial support. Qualifications: Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with a major in social work, social science, accounting or a field related to the work, and two years of responsible experience in legal analysis which included direct experience working with documents and procedures related to family law. ADMINISTRATIVE SPECIALIST 4: Superior Court of New Jersey, Union Vicinage, Family Division. Elizabeth, NJ. Summary: The Judiciary is seeking a hearing officer to conduct hearings on requests for Temporary Restraining Orders (TRO) in the Family Division of the Union County Superior Court. CASE COORDINATOR, CENTRAL INTAKE CENTER: District of Columbia Courts, Family Court. Washington, D.C. Duties: Identifies through the Integrated Justice Information System the existence and status of all cases in the Family Court involving the same parties and/or members of their immediate family or household. FAMILY LAW FACILITATOR/SELF HELP CENTER ATTORNEY: Superior Court of California, County of Siskiyou. Summary: Duties: Develop, plan, implement and administer a Family Law Facilitator Program pursuant to Family Code Section 10000 et seq; Mediation of complex family law matters such as paternity, temporary or permanent child/spousal support and parentage proceedings. Interview self-represented litigants to identify all legal issues presented by their circumstances and review evidence presented. FAMILY COURT MEDIATOR: Multi-Door Dispute Resolution, 515 5th Street, NW. Duties: The incumbent, assigned to Family Court, will mediate matters administered by the Multi-Door Dispute Resolution Division. Incumbent will mediate the settlement of Domestic Relations and Child Protection cases, including such issues as custody, visitation, child and spousal support, property, and, in neglect matters, treatment plan and adjudication issues. Incumbent will schedule and manage mediation cases, draft mediated agreements, evaluate mediators, and participate in the design and delivery of mediator training. ADOPTION LEGAL ASSISTANT: Family Court, 500 Indiana Avenue, NW, Washington D.C. Duties: The work of Adoption Legal Assistant involves the review of all filings relating to the relinquishments of parental rights and adoptions for compliance with legal requirements. The incumbent also assists in the case processing of adoptions and terminations of parental rights by preparing proposed orders, decrees and case status reports. CASA PROGRAM MANAGER: Superior Court in Kingman, Bullhead City and/or Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Summary: Under the general supervision of the Court Administrator this position oversees, manages and performs a variety of tasks associated with the day-to-day operations of the Mohave County Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) program. FAMILY DIVISION ADMINISTRATOR: Reno, Nevada. Summary: The
Family Division Administrator is a salaried, non-confidential,
exempt, executive position that provides direct management
support to the Family Court Division under the supervision of
